Ratnasambhava Puja

1. Worship

Mountain meadows with orchids rare and precious

Water lilies in crystal lakes,

cherry blossoms in abundant orchards,

flowers both great and small

Om Ratnasambhava,

all these I place in homage at Your feet.

Fruits ripe and rare of every autumn hue,

magnificent orchards,

and choice of every golden harvest.

Om Ratnasambhava,

all these I place in homage at Your feet.

Great oceans with incessant waves

crashing on rugged shores.

Shimmering mountain streams

cascading wild and free.

Solemn rivers

on constant pilgrimage to the sea.

deep still lakes

where ageless mountains loom.

Om Ratnasambhava,

all these I place in homage at Your feet.

Wind playing in the leaves and branches,

birdsong in the evening stillness,

fascinating thunder of water-falls

and slow breathing sea

on pebbled strands.

Om Ratnasambhava,

all these I place in homage at Your feet.

Fragrance drifting on the evening breeze

of jasmine, honeysuckle, sandalwood and pine.

Incense of every pleasant scent

rising softly from silent shrines

Om Ratnasambhava,

all these I place in homage at Your feet.

2. Salutation

Again and again I prostrate myself in salutation

before Your jewelled lotus throne.

I pay homage to Your beautiful auras

of merit and Wisdom.

I pay homage to Your smiling Compassion.

I pay homage to the radiant Wish fulfilling Gem.

I pay homage to Your outstretched hand,

the supremely giving, ever open.

I pay homage to the bearers of Your throne,

swift and sure.

With body, speech and mind

I prostrate myself again and again

in salutation to Your benign presence.

3. Going for Refuge

Without hesitation or doubt

I go for refuge to You, Ratnasambhava,

Buddha of Beauty and Generosity.

The rich abundance of Your Enlightened Mind

is my surest refuge.

I take refuge in Your Samata Wisdom

which sees all beings as Buddhas

in their essential nature.

Equally compassionate to all,

Your golden yellow light

is a sun of salvation

in a suffering universe.

I take refuge in Your retinue of Bodhisattvas,

The Jewel family of Protectors.

Om Ratnasambhava

with body, speech and mind

I go for refuge to Your Wisdom and Compassion.

(Refuges and precepts)

4. Confession of Faults

Om Ratnasambhava, Generous and Compassionate,

from the depths of Your Wisdom,

look kindly on my confession.

I have stained the purity of Your Beauty

with thoughts of craving, hatred and delusion.

With words false, frivolous, inharmonious and harsh

I have sullied Your Precious Voice.

With unskilful deeds

harmful, greedy and restless,

I have pained Your tender outstretched hand.

All this I confess

before Your glowing Compassion

and with a fervent heart

I again devote myself to the arising of the Bodhicitta.

Om Ratnasambhava, Generous and Compassionate,

from the depths of Your Wisdom,

look kindly on my confession.

5. Rejoicing in Merits

With what joy I rejoice

in Your glorious bountiful presence.

Constantly I sing Your praises

from a heart filled with gratitude.

Your blessings descend

in unstinting abundance.

Your Beauty is poetry purer than heaven.

Your Generosity is boundless,

inspiring our hearts to open in giving.

Your golden yellow light

is vibrant life itself, joyful and rich.

Om Ratnasambhava,

You are a universe of virtues, abundant and glorious.

With a grateful heart, I rejoice in Your presence.

6. Entreaty and Supplication

Om Ratnasambhava, I invite You into my heart.

May You possess me; body, speech and mind.

With open heart and open arms I stand before You,

and pray that You will endow me with the Wisdom of Equality

and Your all-embracing Compassion.

May the sun-like rays of Your essence

penetrate to the depths of my being

and transform me,

That I may be worthy of Your love.

Om Ratnasambhava,

I invite You into my heart.

(The Heart Sutra or other reading)

7. Transference of Merit and Self Surrender

Om Ratnasambhava,

may my devotion to You be of benefit to all beings.

Whatever merit I accrue from Your bounteous Generosity

I give up to those in need.

May all my spiritual attainments and mundane qualities

go to the alleviation of suffering.

May the life saving Dharma emanate from me

in honour of Your kindness.

Om Ratnasambhava,

may you act through me for the benefit of all,

until suffering humanity,

is finally free.

OM RATNASAMBHAVA TRAM
